Barry Greenstein

(b.December 30, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois)

Barry Greenstein is a poker player and one of pokers greatest philanthropist.

Introduced to Poker at a young age by his father Jack who had learned the game while at the army. Barry began to play poker whilst at college and quickly found that he was making more money than in his real job. He left Bogan High School with a bachelor degree in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urban-Champaign. And also studied for a PhD in mathematics, but left before completing his dissertation. Barry Greenstein started playing poker professionally in 1991 aged 36 when he retired form his work in Symantec.

2005 saw Greestein's book Ace on the River which is a must read for any young poker player. The book is well written and you can see the passion he has for the game of poker.

Tuan Le, a World Poker Tour Season 3 Champion, claims that the book helped him on the poker circuit.

Well known as the Robin Hood of poker for giving 100% of his net tournament winnigs to a variety of charities. The biggest beneficiary of greensteins generosity has been Children Incorporated. A charity that helps more than 15,000 children in 21 countries.

Greenstein has also won two World Poker Tour (WPT) titles.
