Annie DukeAnnie Duke was born and raised in Concord, new Hampshire, Annie grew up in a family who had a passion for card games. In a home where card playing was the glue that held the family together, everybody not only wanted to win but had to win. Through out her childhood Annie never felt like fitted in. At age 18 Duke she left for the big city, Duke matriculated at Columbia University of Pennsylvania for cognitive Psychology. Knee deep indoctorate research (1991) Annie proposed to marriage to an old friend, Ben Duke. Annie packed up her life and research and left academia behind for Billings, CO. Living in Romantic poverty with Ben (now her husband), Annie started to play poker in local poker rooms to help pay the mortgage. In 1994, at the suggestion of her brother, none other than Porfessional Poker Player Howard Lederer Annie tried her skill at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. She placed 13th not bad for her first ever poker tournament and to cap it Annie knocked out her brother, Howard Lederer. After winning 70 grand in her first month of tournament play the descision was made to move to Las Vegas to pursue poker professionally. Over the course of the next decade, Duke established herself as one of the best poker players in the world. 2004, Duke beat 234 poker players to win her first World Series Of Poker (WSOP) Bracele, the win came in the $2000 buy in Omahah Hi-Lo Split. In August of the same year she managed to beat eight of the worlds greatest poker legends and won $2 million in the No-Limit Texas Hold'em winner take all, invitation only WSOP Tournament of Champions, established by ESPN and Harrahs Entertainment. Annie now serves as a poker consultant for online Poker Company UltimateBet.com to ensure that their rules of poker and tournament structure match those you would find in the famous poker rooms of the Las Vegas strip. Furthermore, she is sought after for her vast poker skills, Poker Knowledge and coaching the likes of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck on their poker game. In Mid Septemeber 2005 Annie's book HOw i raised, bluffed, flirted, cursed and won millions at the World Series Of Poker hit the shelves. |
